Honoring the Lunar New Year, Imbolc and the New Moon: A celebration of renewal.
As we continue to take steps into 2025, we find ourselves surrounded by celestial and cultural celebrations that remind us of the cyclical beauty of life. January 29th marks a powerful convergence of energies: the Lunar New Year ushering in the Year of the Snake, , and the New Moon—a perfect alignment to pause, reflect, and set intentions, and the sacred celebration of Imbolc- a celebration of light.
The Lunar New Year and the Wisdom of the Snake The Lunar New Year is a time of fresh beginnings its a Spring Celebration. Deeply rooted in the traditions of East Asia. It is a celebration of red decorations, deep cleaning, elaborate meals and being in community and with family. In 2025, we celebrate the Year of the Snake, an animal revered for its wisdom, transformation, and resilience.
In Chinese astrology, the Snake represents introspection, intuition, and the shedding of old skins to reveal our truest selves. This year encourages us to embrace self-awareness and make thoughtful, transformative choices. Take the steps into your path of GREATNESS. The Snake’s energy invites us to trust our inner wisdom, cultivate patience, and allow growth to unfold naturally. .
According to legend, the Snake earned its place in the Chinese Zodiac through its resourcefulness and cleverness during the Jade Emperor’s race. While the Snake may not have been the fastest, its ability to strategize and adapt ensured its success. This story highlights the Snake’s qualities of intellect and determination, traits we are invited to embody in the coming year. (I will talk more about this at the Gathering on January 29th, 7PM at Spine & Spirit. If you can’t make it in person be sure to tune into the call on February 1st at 10AM)
Imbolc: A Festival of Light and Renewal Imbolc, a Celtic festival celebrated on January 31st, February 1st and 2nd, marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. This sacred time honors Brigid, the goddess of fertility, healing, and poetry. It’s a celebration of light returning to the earth, as the days gradually grow longer.
Traditionally, Imbolc is a time for cleansing and preparing the home, lighting candles to symbolize hope, and setting intentions for the year ahead. It’s a season of quiet but potent energy—the first stirrings of new life beneath the frozen ground. By celebrating Imbolc, we honor the cyclical nature of growth, understanding that even in the stillness of winter, transformation is taking place.
The New Moon on January 29th: A Cosmic Invitation The New Moon on January 29th amplifies the themes of new beginnings, reflection, and intention-setting. New Moons are a time of introspection and planting seeds for the future. Paired with the Year of the Snake and the approach of Imbolc, this New Moon creates an ideal environment to focus on personal growth, spiritual renewal, and aligning with your deepest desires.
This particular New Moon invites us to honor our intuition, shed limiting beliefs, and embrace the transformative energy of the Snake. It’s a time to ask ourselves: What do we want to cultivate in the coming months? How can we move forward with clarity and purpose?
